The genesis of the bust:
Arthur Schopenhauer's philosophical thoughts were strongly influenced by his pessimism. He regarded the world as a "wailing valley" full of suffering. All happiness is illusion, all pleasure only negative. The restlessly aspiring will is finally satisfied by nothing. Therefore, we could not avoid to represent a certain bitterness in the features of the bust. Even the few photos or daguerreotypes of Schopenhauer show him with a serious, grim look. But it was precisely this sometimes deeply negative attitude to life that led Schopenhauer to his insights, which are still groundbreaking to this day.

Arthur Schopenhauer was a German philosopher, writer and teacher. Schopenhauer designed a doctrine that includes both epistemology, metaphysics, aesthetics, and ethics. He saw himself as a pupil and completer of Immanuel Kant, whose philosophy he conceived as preparation for his own teaching. He drew further inspiration from Plato's theory of ideas and perceptions from Eastern philosophies. Within the philosophy of the 19th century he developed his own position of Subjective Idealism and was one of the first philosophers in the German-speaking world to believe that the world was based on an irrational principle.

Your bust will be carefully packed and despatched via DPD or DHL.
Of course, we also send your bust abroad. We have shipped our busts safely even to customers in Brazil and Australia.

The busts are made of a special plastic material and are hollow.
The material is suitable for indoor use.
If you want to clean the bust please use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not clean it under a water jet or similar!
