Chopin already died at the age of 39. Nevertheless, he left numerous compositions and had an enormous influence on the development of Romantic music as well as on the piano pedagogy and was already a highly admired musician during his lifetime. Therefore, our bust is showing Chopin in his 30s, when he had established himself in Paris, the center of romantic piano music at that time, and was at the heigth of his work.On the other hand, Chopin was suffering on numerous illnesses throughout his live and ,with increasing age, on recurrent depression. Both can be heard in his music, joyful creativity and optimism, paired with difficult, more profound passages and compositions. For this reason, our bust is young at years but melancholic in expression. Our most important templates for the bust were on one hand a photo of Chopin from 1849 by Louis-Auguste Bisson, probably the most known picture of the composer, and a painting by P. Schick.

Frédéric Chopin (or Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin)(* February 22 or March 1, 1810 in Zelazowa Wola, in the then Duchy of Warsaw, Poland? October 17, 1849 in Paris) was a Polish composer, pianist and piano teacher.
