We have sculpted more than 1800 different busts and so we think that we certainly are the sculptors who modeled the most busts Europe wide. With this experience, we have constantly optimized our work flow as listed below.
Photos
We sculpt your bust from normal photos which you can take yourself. At least we need five photos:
- One picture from the front
- A picture each from the left and right side
- One picture from the half left and half right side (45 degrees).
For more information about the photos, see
here.
We can sculpt the bust also from existing photos if the person already passed away. Feel free to send us the pictures in advance by email for approval.
We have even modeled busts based on etchings and oil paintings! Please just send us the material you have by email and we will give you a reply.
Of course, you are cordially invited to visit us in our studio in Mülheim/Ruhr to see the different variations and finishes. We will gladly advise you!
Here you also have the option to be scanned. For that purpose, you are photographed with a scanner, a kind of "3D camera". So, we have measured you to a fraction of a millimeter and this result is then improved by our artists. This procedure is the most accurate way to create a bust.
Sculpting
We sculpt the bust on the computer in contrast to the traditional sculptors and modellers. For this, we use ultra-modern and even self-developed software. Of course, educated artists model the bust.
Preview pictures
After we're done with the sculpting we will send you preview pictures from multiple perspectives - and that before we start manufacturing the bust! Now you can calmly examine the result and also remark change requests. We will work in these change requests and send you new preview pictures. We will start to manufacture the bust only after having received your approval!
Manufacturing the bust
For the production of the real bust we use several 3D printers plus even CNC controlled milling machines. Thus, we can even make busts to several meters size!
Bronzing and patination
After printing, the bust will be sanded and then bronzed in several layers. Special care is needed by our artists as the patination solution must be applied to the still moist bronzing. The color change is leaded by a chemical pathway because this patination is not a color.
Genuine bronze
Since ancient times, bronze is almost always the first choice in the preparation of expressive and indestructible sculptures. According to this a bust casted in bronze is the noblest embodiment of a human portrait portrait. The quality gloss of the metal in combination with a vivid patina brings the traits and characteristics of each bust especially to advantage.
After manufacturing the bust on our 3D printer it will be casted at our partner, a long-established art foundry. After casting, the chasing and the patina is done.
Shipping
Your bust will be carefully packed and sent via DPD or DHL regarding the address.
Of course, we also send the bust abroad. We have sent the busts safely even to our customers in Brazil and Australia.
Just a short note to the material and care
The busts are made out of a special plastic and are hollow. After the manufacturing the surface coating is done. Depending on the selected option in white, in light or dark bronzing. After bronzing a patina is applied to the bust.
The material is suitable for indoor use.
If you want to clean the bust please use a dry cloth. Please clean it by no means under a water jet or similar!
If you want to have a real bronze bust, the bust will be casted in a second step at our partner, a long-established art foundry. The casted bust consists of a special bronze alloy and is also hollow. After casting, the chasing and then the patina is done. The patina will change over time - this is the reason for the manner of speaking: "The bronze lives".
The real bronze bust is suitable for outdoor use. A special care is not needed but you should not clean it with sandpaper or wire wool. This results not only scratches, the patina is removed at this area too.
