For our bust of Roentgen, we used two photos as a template, which were taken at the end of the 19th century. We also tried to capture Roentgens character in the bust. The scientist is described as an introvert who only had a few close friends who knew him really well. He was an extremely conscientious scientist who did every aspect of his work with great perseverance and remarkable accuracy. Sometimes he is said to have been so immersed in his work that he was hardly accessible.

Accordingly, we did not depict Roentgen with a visionary gaze into the distance, as is often the case with busts, but with his head and gaze tilted slightly downward, turned inward and focused on his inner thoughts. From one of the photos we took over his slightly strict and at the same time somewhat worried look. With this version we hope that our bust can do justice to Roentgen as a scientist as well as a private person.

Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen
(born March 27, 1845 in Remscheid, died February 10, 1923 in Munich)
Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen was a German physicist. On November 8, 1895, he discovered the X-rays, for this he received the first Nobel Prize ever awarded in Physics in 1901. His discovery revolutionized medical diagnostics, among other things, and led to other important findings of the 20th century, e.g. the discovery and research of radioactivity.
