The most important model for our bust of Richard Wagner was a black and white photograph dated 1871. It is by far the widespreaded portrait of the famous composer. Unlike the numerous famous personalities from earlier centuries we already sculpted, we had an exact idea of his appearance and did not had to investigate which painting or historical bust might be the most appropriate. Nevertheless, we oriented ourselves on art works of that time, as well. In particular, the bust of Wagner located in the park grounds of Villa Rieter in Zurich served us as additional template. It corresponds to our demand to the degree of details and realism shown in the charactaristic traits of him. Furthermore, the Wagner bust which is located in the park on Schwanenteich in Leipzig, Wagners place of birth, helped us in realizing our works, mainly with regard to his profile view.

Richard Wagner was a German composer, dramatist, poet, writer, theater director and conductor. He traveled a lot through Europe, also on the run from his high debts, where he got many ideas for his works. With his music dramas he is considered as one of the most important innovators of European music in the 19th century. He changed the expressiveness of romantic music and the theoretical and practical foundations of opera by designing dramatic acts as a total work of art, writing the librettos, music and directing directions. He founded the festival dedicated exclusively to the performance of his own works in the Bayreuth Festspielhaus which he had planned. His innovations in harmony influenced the development of music to the modern age.

Shipping
Your bust will be carefully packed and despatched via DPD or DHL.
Of course, we also send your bust abroad. We have shipped our busts safely even to customers in Brazil and Australia.

Just a short note on material and care
The busts are made of a special plastic material and are hollow.
The material is suitable for indoor use.
If you want to clean the bust please use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not clean it under a water jet or similar!
